World Music Night 2016

“J Cole, J Cole, J Cole!” That was the chant coming from the Pigeon Point Heritage Park on Friday night, just some minutes to eleven, as scores of patrons eagerly awaited the feature artiste for World Music Night of The Tobago Jazz Experience 2016, American hip hop recording artiste and record producer, J Cole. When J Cole finally made his way on stage at 11:00pm, the crowd went wild; screams pierced through the Pigeon Point Heritage Park. As the hip hop artiste began performed, the crowd sang verse after verse of each song, much to his surprise. He said, “It's a little crazy for me to come all the way to the islands and you all know all the words. It's a little crazy for me.” With hits like ‘Love Yours’ and 'She Knows’, J Cole performed for one hour with no dull moment.

World Music Night also featured local artistes. Dil E Nadan had the crowd dancing the Electric Slide. Five Miles to Midnight gave an energetic performance. Rising rap artistes Jay Nahge and Jimmy October also had compelling acts.

The evening ended with the Queen of Bacchanal, Destra Garcia. Destra switched things up and performed R&B songs, showing off her vocal abilities. Then, she heated up the stage and shook the Pigeon Point Heritage Park with soca.
